Installation Error: Cannot Connect to Internet Information Server
Quote from Deepa Kapoor on November 27, 2025, 9:01 amWhile doing installation you might encounter an error similar to:
Error 26001: Cannot Connect to Internet Information Server (-2147221164)
This happens when the IIS is not setup properly (or the setup program does not have privilege to create virtual folder in the IIS) and the OfficeClip setup program gives this error.
If you are using Windows 2008 server please try the following:
- Cancel the existing Installation
- Install the IIS 6.0 compatablity component in your Windows 2008 server (via Server Manager).
- Install OfficeClip again.
To manually solve this problem, do the following:
- Click on Continue and finish the installation
- After installation, setup OfficeClip virtual folder in IIS manually
Instructions for setting up IIS manually is different for each IIS version (currently OfficeClip supports IIS 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0). Please see the IIS documentation to set it correctly.
